Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) In an effort of Indian Government to fight against mobile phone theft and empower user security, Indian government is introducing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system. Scheduled for a pan-India launch on May 17, this new innovative tracking system aims to aware individuals to block and track their lost or stolen mobile phones. This system let user or any individual to report missing or block their mobile from further use.

this new system will boost and empower user and content safety, which will lead to reduce theft, and security breach. The Centre for Department of Telematics (CDoT), a technology development body, has played a crucial role in the implementation of the CEIR system.

HERE’S HOW CEIR PORTAL WORKS

In case of theft/loss of mobile phone, immediately take action to block mobile on CEIR. Follow the following steps to block mobile on CEIR –

• 1.First of all file missing report on lost mobile.
• Missing reports can also be filed online by visiting the concerned police station or by visiting the lost articles report on the police web portal
• Get the new SIM of the lost mobile number from the mobile service provider company and wait for 24 hours till the OTP facility starts.
• Go to the homepage of CEIR (https://www.ceir.gov.in) and select Block Stolen/Lost Mobile.
• Fill the mobile block form step by step.
• Upload a copy of the Missing Report that you have lodged with the police station or on the police web portal.
• As soon as the new mobile number is activated in the lost/stolen mobile phone device, you will get an alert message immediately.
• On receiving the message, contact the concerned police station and get your mobile traced.
• On getting the lost mobile, go to the homepage of CEIR and select Un-Block Found Mobile and un-block the mobile and use it.

As per data of CEIR Portal 4,81,888 mobile have been blocked and 2,43,944 mobiles have been recovered with the help of this portal.
